Five things every trades website is missing
A good trades website works like a salesperson who never clocks off. Most of the sites we audit have the same five gaps, and they are all fixable.
1. A clear answer on the first screen
A visitor should know within a few seconds what you do, where you work and how to get a quote. If they have to scroll or guess, they go back to the search results and call the next builder.
2. Real projects, with real detail
Stock photos tell people nothing. Show finished jobs with the suburb, the type of work and, where you can, a short note on the brief. It is the fastest way to prove you have done what you say you do.
3. A short form and a tap-to-call button
Most enquiries now come from phones. Ask for the minimum: name, phone, suburb and a line about the job. Put a call button where thumbs can reach it. Every extra field costs you enquiries.
4. Proof next to the button
Reviews, licence numbers, insurance details and years in business belong beside the call to action, not buried on an About page. People decide whether to trust you at the moment they decide whether to contact you.
5. Tracking that shows which ads produce jobs
If you cannot tell which calls and forms came from which campaign, you are guessing where to spend. Call tracking and form tracking are inexpensive, and they turn marketing from a cost into something you can measure.
